what is Static Routing

[post_ad]In Static Routing administrator has  knowledge about  their network so he manually define the route in the routing table for routing packet from source to destination .

Advantage of static routing-:
  • There is no overhead on the CPU of Router so we can use cheap router
  • This is secure routing
Disadvantage of static routing.
  • Administrator must have knowledge about inter network and all the IP addresses which are used in the inter network.
Example

    Syntax of static routing

    Router(config)# IP route   <destination network ID>   <destination subnet mask>   <next hope>

    Ex-    R1(config) # ip route 172.31.10.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.2
